Dale McCauley, BS

Neuroprep Scholar

Dale is from Aberdeen, WA, and graduated from Western Washington University with a B.S. in Behavioral Neuroscience after receiving an A.A. from Grays Harbor College. At Western Washington University, Dale worked in the Lab of Dr. Jeff Cantle and participated in an undergraduate neurosurgery internship. Before this, Dale attended Seattle Maritime Academy and joined the Merchant Marines to become a sailor and experience different parts of the world. With this training, he worked as crew in the engineering department aboard the Research Vessel Sally Ride of Scripps Institution of Oceanography supporting research teams. Dale has always been interested in science but was hooked on neuroscience after taking Intro to Behavioral Neuroscience and learning the basics of how the brain functions. Currently, his interests are in improving the ability of implanted stem cell-based tissue to integrate into neural circuits. As a Neuroprep scholar, Dale hopes to gain experience interacting with the scientific community and develop his scientific thinking through independent research. Outside of science, Dale enjoys weightlifting, electronic music, and going for long walks with no set destination.
