Kamden Kuklinski, BA

Neuroprep Scholar

Kamden Kuklinski is from Gurnee, IL and a proud graduate of Lake Forest College (BA Neuroscience, 2023) and the College of Lake County (AS Biology, 2020). At Lake Forest College, he was a research assistant in the lab of Dr. Rebecca Delventhal where he studied differential health outcomes of repeated and single traumatic brain injury in a Drosophila model. He applied to the Neuroprep Program because, as a first-generation college student, he feels that he will benefit greatly from the personalized mentorship offered by participating faculty members as he prepares to apply for PhD programs in Neuroscience. In his free time, he likes to play guitar and spend time with his friends and family.

Neuroprep mentor: Ream Al-Hasani, PhD

Ream Al-Hasani

In the Al-Hasani Lab, they study the neurocircuitry underlying addiction, stress, and chronic pain. They specifically focus on the role of the opioid peptide system to identify new targets for novel pharmacotherapies. Kamden’s current project seeks to uncover the neurobiological mechanisms underlying cold hypersensitivity in a mouse model of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis.
